The ultimate goal is unity, however, the Holy bible teaches that distancing can be divine strategy ultimately purposed for unity. In doing so, physical distancing is the obvious that accompanies obscure preparation and awareness for spiritual tolerance regarding the ramifications of distancing and non acceptance. In other words, when God says to "back up for the hope of circumstances to come closer", it's a must to tolerate the consequences of backing up. Jesus desired (desires) for his disciples to be spiritually healthy dealing with circumstances at hand and future circumstances while being subjected to distancing for the purpose to unify.
"And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet" Matthew 10:14
